Job description

Our client a leading Engineering Business has a requirement for an experienced Production Planner to join an existing team.

Key responsibilities include;

Effective management of the MRP system and production planning function.

Effectively manage capacity requirement planning: Establishing, measuring and adjusting limits or levels of capacity/loading to meet the agreed 12 week on rolling plan.

Sub contract planning scheduling and expediting.

Ensure simulation sequencing (MPS) is effectively maintained and used at the daily contract review.

Order management and scheduling to meet customer’s needs.

Measure and maintain customers schedule adherence.

Effectively manage the use of finished good stocks and optimise production batching and EBQs.

WIP management in real time ensuring the system is maintained at all time.

Effectively manage new products into the master production plan ensuring completion dates are met.

Organise and control daily / weekly shop floor work to lists ensuring the right jobs are worked on at the right time.

Liaise with internal functions on a daily basis (stores, material prep, purchasing, shop floor) to ensure the plan is being achieved and escalate any slippages and issues to the Operations Manager.

Manager and expedite parts on hold list ensuring all departments take quick and appropriate action.

Participate in meetings as required.

Promote & implement LEAN principles and practices company wide.

Prepare reports, KPIs and information as required.

Liaise and work closely with the shop floor team leaders and conduct production walks, go look see to ensure the departments are working to correct priorities.

Assist with the implementation and development of the new MRP system.

Liaise with sales and customers with regards to progress reporting and scheduling.

Maintain and display key performance indicators.
