How To ‘Spring’ In To A New Job

Spring is in the air and has brought with it a whole host of new opportunities. The season of possibilities and new beginnings – now is the time to be bold, be brave and dare to embrace your dreams.

As the temperature starts hotting up, so does the job market. The Christmas temps are long gone and the permanent positions start to roll back around. There’s no better time to chase your dreams and here’s how you can do it:

Winter blues

The cold winter mornings and dark journeys home can make anyone feel miserable. It’s knowing the difference between having the winter blues, and getting restless in your current role that is the key. Ask yourself where you really want to be when summer comes along, and if it’s not your current work place then it’s time for a change.

Spring clean your CV

You’ve made your decision to find a new job. Next step – spring clean your CV. Add in any new skills you’ve picked up since the last update, and remove any previous roles that no longer support your career aspirations. Spring time is de-cluttering time. With recruiters only spending 15 seconds looking at your CV, it needs to be short, snappy and to the point. Check out our CV article for information on how to do this – click here

Dust away the cobwebs

Dust away the cobwebs from your qualifications and see what’s missing. What skills could set you apart from other candidates? Whether you’ve been working two years or twenty years, adding new qualifications to your portfolio is never a bad idea. It will certainly help you spring into a new job and maybe even open doors you never thought of.

Time to blossom

It’s here, the moment you’ve been waiting for … an interview for your dream job. This is your time to shine and confidence in yourself and your abilities can go a long way. Be prepared, know the company you are interviewing for and have pre-rehearsed answers to questions. For more advice on interview techniques then check out this article – click here. Remember – Believe you can and you’re halfway there.

Here comes the summer

Follow this advice and you could be in a new role by summer. What better way to celebrate than with a bbq?
