HSE Manager

Job description

Our client is a European market leader in their industry and is looking for an HSE Manager to join their company. 


Duties and responsibilities: 

  • Provision of systems and guidance to ensure safe and compliant operation of the plant
  • Generation, development and review of local HSE policy, COMAH, Major Accident Prevention Policy (MAPP), COMAH Safety Reports, and Environment Permit requirements determined by the regulatory authorities
  • Identifying major hazards & assessing associated risks during the lifecycle of the plant
  • Co-ordinate implementation and maintenance of the HSE aspects of the HSEQ management system
  • Monitoring performance & carrying out audit and reviews of HSE and COMAH related aspects of operations
  • Undertaking of environmental monitoring, assessment of results, coordinating any actions arising from monitoring activities. Report as necessary to regulators
  • Accident, incident and near miss investigation, reporting and reviewing
  • Reporting of HSE performance to the company and external authorities
  • Oversee audit meeting and inspections with HSE and Environment Agency
  • Ownership of the site safety report and bases of safety
  • Carrying out formal risk assessments and design reviews for any engineering project and changes
  • Identification and implementation of training requirements related to HSE
  • Identifying recordings & follow up corrective and improvement actions
  • Control management of change with regard to plant and manufactured products and associated risk assessments
  • Development and maintenance of on-site emergency planning and contact liaising with off-site emergency planners
  • Member of senior management team on site
  • Ensuring the company remains compliant with all existing and new HSE legislation
Requirements: 
  • COMAH / Chemical manufacturing experience 
  • Must have worked in a manufacturing environment 
  • Experience in all aspects of HSE 
  • Good working experience of working with local and national authorities 
  • Pro-active, open and transparent, result oriented and structured way of working
  • Very good written and verbal communication skills
